As Lorec attempts to pick up a trail before night falls they inadvertently run into one of their missing comrades, the wizard Marlowe! Fatigued and on the verge of collapse, the heroes escort Marlowe back through the forest to the road and accompany him to Ebon Hold. Once Marlowe is returned to safety he tells a troubling tale of being hounded for days by dreadful creatures, warning the adventurers of the various dangers that lurk within the woods! Although his companions are still missing, Marlowe believes they are being held captive by the witch and her cohorts deeper in Fenwylde.
